We use 25,000 btu's per linear foot when calculate customs for 10~12" flame. For standard burners we actually hook to meter and measure at 800' elevation.
This custom propane burner pan, had a dual burner system. One buried in the Black Magic for blue flames. And the other single burner in the center, burning a normal flame.
Over the center burner we poured Black Base Glass.
Here is the full effect, with the center yellow/orange flames surrounded by the Black Magic blue flames.
A total of 12 steel indoor pipes and 2 gas lines were created in order to properly feed this monster burner pan.
The sand is added as a filler and some Gray Reflective Base Glass is poured over the burners, the customer can than see what it will ultimately look like.

We built a set of fire stick for an architect "Woody Dike" on the Nipomo, California project (seen above) a few years ago. Then Woody contacted us to build a set for him. He even sent us a drawing and included a diorama. Here is the blue print. and diorama:
Below after installing and fine tuning the gas flow they then covered the base with sand and then topped it with Black Magic and several Toppers. Awesome job Woody!
The Sticks below are a pro-to type of 2 sets that are being installed in Nipomo California in the Trilogy project by Shea Homes (Pismo Beach). We will follow up with completed pictures as soon as we have time to post the finished project. There are several fireplaces which will also be all electronic ignition as well.
At the base of each burner there is a control valve to regulate the flow of fuel to the burner. The base will be covered with our black sand to conceal the valves. We will post pictures of the finished and completed project.
Ribbon Burners
The twin ribbon burners below are 50" long each and powered be an electronic ignition. The will be installed in Santa Barbara California. They will be installed one in front of the other to create two walls of fire.
The ignition system that was powering these burners is a 110 volt 415,000 btu system. The control of the flame height can only be done manually as electronic control is not available as of yet for this unit.
The ribbon burner below is made from 1/8" brushed stainless steel. The center was water jet cut and then we bent the two center fins down to install the ribbon burner with electronic ignition. The base plate measured 94" x 26" and was installed in San Diego, California. The architect is Kelly Crain of San Diego.
Here's another one like above, just smaller and for a different client...
We can build these in any size, shape, material and in natural gas or propane (See Our General Propane Sheet). This was tested in the shop with a minimal of 1/4 lb of natural gas. This burner is capable of at least an 18" ribbon burn. If you look in the center you will see the ignition head for the electronic ignition. The burner below is a propane ribbon burner with all stainless steel construction.
The next 4 pictures are of our ribbon burner after fabrication. The pan and all around was filled with glass hiding/ concealing all of the workings. A ribbon burner will mold all of the flames together making it look like a ribbon of fire. Our ribbon burners can actually raise the flames quite a bit! This is one of our smaller 18" ribbon burners. Now we pour on Starfire Base Glass to help conceal the burner.
The burner below was built for the Ivy Hotel in downtown San Diego. This is a 4 burner stainless steel custom job that is ignited by 4 valves and measures 72" across. As we have said before, there is nothing we can't build!
Here are the pictures of our fire table and the new fire pit being installed on the 7th floor of the Ivy Hotel ( www.Andaz.com) in downtown San Diego. Cesar did a great job!
You can see the shape of the custom burners on a low flame.
