Here is what Brian had to say...
"Thanks Ed... the Vortex’ look amazing!"
A pair of outdoor Vortex Fires features designed to provide the perfect atmosphere for some night swimming.
The following pictures and illustrations come to us from Mark Sturky, the future pilot for Virgin's Galactica spaceship. He came wanted one of our outdoor Vortex Fire features along with a waterfall.
Mark provided some great digital sketches of what he wanted from us.
And here is the project completed, Mark got a 48" Aluminum Vortex with outdoor windshields surrounded with Black Magic and Diamond Toppers and a square stainless steel burner to best frame the Vortex.
The fireplace below is on the water in Florida. We built a Ribbon Burner for this outdoor fireplace feature that was fueled by Propane and equipped it with an Electronic Ignition. All parts that were used were #316 marine grade stainless steel. The media that was used was a very fine crushed lava.
Mark Cotter was the contractor in Florida who is responsible for this wonderful addition!
We worked with Chris Caufield from Cathedral City on creating this custom outdoor fire table feature. It was powder coated a metallic brown, with a beautiful tile finished, 26" inch stainless steel burner and natural gas valve and rope lighting.
The media used was Pyrite Clear Base Glass, with Lime Green Topper, Green E.D. Diamonds, Dark Red Orange Topper, and Irridized Emerald Green E.D. Diamonds.
Here is a good example of how to get a one-of-a-kind without paying custom work pricing. Our customer had this pre-existing outdoor pot and we modified it to burn propane and black magic.
We installed the the 12" double stainless steel burner. test it to assure a good flame pattern. We then pour some black magic...
...turn of the lights and here are the results - awesome!
Our outdoor alcohol based VortexED ‘55’ fire feature has been engineered to naturally swirl without the use of any electronics. Both portable and equally safe to use indoors; it’s a brilliant alternative to any table-top candle. May be used for commercial or residential use.
Paul Hammel one of our clients from San Fransisco had a very particular design idea for a portable outdoor fire table. Made of Corten Metal and fueled by natural gas this modern outdoor fire feature is both industrial and stylish.
The Media used was Four 4" Dark Brown FireBalls Three 6" Dark Brown FireBalls and 1/4" Super Black Base Glass FireGlass.
We built this custom outdoor Fire & Water feature with both Michael Anthony of Chicago working in conjunction with Ahmed Hassan of Yard Crashers. Water, lights, fire, stone/glass base, spinning water, spitting water, colored water, auto fill, drain, fiber optics, etc, etc, etc, You dream it, we can usually build it.
The feature showcased a water pump to spin the water, (we used an 8 copper finger design to spin the water), underwater lighting and some colored water for mood effect; these could be built as either Natural gas or Propane. The Sugar Kettle was supplied by: www.SugarKettles.com in Chicago.
Below Ahmed oversees the flame/gas adjusting to equalize the flame pattern. Not to worry, the flames are only above the water. These guys had so much fun they didn't give it much thought about where they were sticking their hands. Let's see if we can get Ahmed to put his hands in here too!
Below is the finished fire on water feature.
Below is Mark Anthony and Ahmed Hassan, I was there in spirit (and phone support).
